This book, edited by Ms. Sujata Prasad and Dr. C. Satyamala has been published by Institute for Human Development (IHD) in 2006. The book has 23 papers contributed by experts in the field. Beginning with an overview of the current health scenario in terms of outreach and coverage of services, the book takes up critical health policy issues such as financing, insurance, governance as well as health security concerns for vulnerable groups. The book puts forth a strong case for the government to provide affordable, accessible and equitable health care as a basic right of the citizen.
